DJK is a 2-in-1 electronic instrument designed for portability and convenience. Combining a DJ controller and a 2-octave MIDI controller provides users with everything they need to perform and produce music in a compact layout.
A full-scale model was made using a laser-cut acrylic body and 3D-printed controls. The knobs, sliders, and keys were modeled to move and emulate how they might function in a final model, which helped prove that the product scale and layout is sufficient for proper use. The hinge and handle/stand designs also functioned as intended. The model easily fits on a cramped desk or in a standard backpack.
